The Pattern Room works to adapt to your design process, all of our clients have a different way of capturing and experimenting with design concepts. Ideas are forever moving and growing, It's our ambition to move with your process to help you create your vision.
We set out to create a space to fabricate the visions of designers, we wanted to build a transparent business focused on forming long-lasting relationships with brands. Where designers can trust us to create their visions, shaped around each designer's individual design process.
We are a small team of experienced professionals, dedicated to providing you with high-quality pattern cutting, toiles and samples. We work to a high standard of garment making and pay great attention to detail. We believe the key to making a great collection is investing in the early stages of creation. Making sure the patterns and samples are made to a high standard builds
a strong foundation for your designs.
The Pattern Room started in March 2019, from a new studio development, Deptford.
Head pattern cutter and studio owner Fran opened her own studio, after working for 14 years in pattern cutting and garment tech across a variety of roles focused on designers. Not only on providing services but working flexibly to tailor them to each brand/designer's needs.
We strive to be a sustainable studio ensuring we create as little waste as possible in the sample/toile-making process. Every step of the manufacturing process is important and reducing waste from start to finish is vital to reducing the fashion industry's environmental impact. To reduce waste we source deadstock fabric to make up toiles, rescuing fabric that would otherwise go to landfill. Tons of deadstock fabric is sent to landfills a year that's been left over from large unfulfilled orders.
We ensure all samples and productions are manufactured in the UK, we believe in keeping the tailoring industry alive, keeping jobs local and reducing shipping emissions. Being able to oversee working conditions and ensuring people are paid fairly for the work they do is so important to us.
If you are looking to start a sustainable brand or want your existing brand to become more sustainable, we can tailor a consultation session to your brand mission. Our team has experience in sustainable fashion and can help guide you when making decisions.
GARMENT TECH, STUDIO OWNER,
" I enjoy the process of bringing the designer's visions to life. I am passionate about using the knowledge I have gained from my years in the industry to guide others and help new brands.
Working as a manager at a factory, I oversaw sample machinists and the process of creating samples from design. Being behind the scenes of the fashion industry has opened my eyes to the importance of reducing waste in any way possible along the process. I think it's crucial to keep the manufacturing industry alive in the UK and source as much as we can locally. "

"As a designer, I am passionate about helping brands manage growth. At The Pattern Room, we provide the tools start-up brands need to get their collection off the ground. I have experience starting my own clothing line and bring lessons from the learning curves into creating resources for others starting their journey.
Working at The Pattern Room has been an amazing lesson in attention to detail and garment-tech. As a designer with basic pattern cutting skills, watching Fran work has helped me see every design as a process and given me the freedom to take more risks in design. "
